According to the statistics of Indonesia Central Bureau of Statistics, its volume of goods trade was USD110.49 billion from January to May in 2016, up 12.3% year-on-year (the same below). Exports fell by 12.9% to USD56.59 billion, and imports fell by 11.6% to USD53.90 billion. The trade surplus was USD2.69 billion, down32.6% from last year.

In May, Indonesia’s volume of goods trade fell by 6.8% to USD22.66 billion. Exports fell by 9.3% to USD11.51 billion and imports fell by 4.1% to USD11.14 billion. And the trade surplus fell by 63.5% to USD0.37 billion.

Since January to May, bilateral trade volume between Indonesia and China fell by 2.6% to USD17.90 billion. Indonesia’s exports to China were USD5.60 billion, down 9.6%. It accounted for 9.9% of Indonesia’s overall export, up 0.4%. And Indonesia’s imports from China reached USD12.30 billion, up 1.0%. It accounted for 22.8% of Indonesia’s overall imports, up 2.8% over the previous year. Indonesia’s trade deficit with China was USD6.70 billion, up 12.2%.

China was the third largest export market of Indonesia after Japan and the U.S., and its largest source of imports up to the end of May in 2016.
